Phyllotaxis as a Dynamical Self Organizing Process Part III: The Simulation of the Transient Regimes of Ontogeny

چکیده

In two previous articles [Douady & Couder (1996a,b)] two iterative systems were defined, based respectively on hypotheses developed by Hofmeister (1868) and Snow & Snow (1952). It was shown that in the latter model all the variety of the spiral, whorled and multijugate patterns observed on botany could be obtained as steady regimes of the iteration. In this third article, several of the characteristic transient evolutions observed during the ontogeny are revisited. In the framework of the iterative system of Snow & Snow these evolutions can be reproduced, provided realistic initial conditions and time variations of the parameters are imposed. 7 1996 Academic Press Limited

Phyllotaxis as a Dynamical Self Organizing Process Part II: The Spontaneous Formation of a Periodicity and the Coexistence of Spiral and Whorled Patterns

The conditions for the appearance of a new primordium put forward by Snow & Snow (1952) are shown to form the rules of a dynamical iterative system more general than that based on Hofmeister’s hypotheses (1868). This system is simple, generic and compatible with several of the ideas about the possible nature of the interaction between primordia. By numerical simulation, it is demonstrated that ...

Improvement of Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) in Artificial Heart Using Particle Swarm Optimization

In this approach, the Left ventricular assist pump for patients with left ventricular failure isused. The failure of the left ventricle is the most common heart disease during these days. Inthis article, a State feedback controller method is used to optimize the efficiency of a samplingpump current. Particle Swarm Algorithm, which is a set of rules to update the position andvelocity, is applied...

Monthly runoff forecasting by means of artificial neural networks (ANNs)

Over the last decade or so, artificial neural networks (ANNs) have become one of the most promising tools formodelling hydrological processes such as rainfall runoff processes. However, the employment of a single model doesnot seem to be an appropriate approach for modelling such a complex, nonlinear, and discontinuous process thatvaries in space and time. For this reason, this study aims at de...

I-1: Spermatogonial Ontogeny in Mice

Background:Spermatogenesis is maintained by a pool of the spermatogonia. The group formed by As, Apr and Aal is known as undifferentiated type a spermatogonia (Aund). The Aal spermatogonia will differentiate, with no mitotic division, to the differentiating type A1 spermatogonia. The type A1 spermatogonia undergo 6 successive mitotic divisions to yield A2, A3, A4, intermediate-type (In), and ty...

Auxin and self-organization at the shoot apical meristem.

Plants continuously generate new tissues and organs throughout their life cycle, due to the activity of populations of specialized tissues containing stem cells called meristems. The shoot apical meristem (SAM) generates all the aboveground organs of the plant, including leaves and flowers, and plays a key role in plant survival and reproduction. Organ production at the SAM occurs following pre...
